16" desktop bear carved from alder

Hello,

Welcome to my carving website. I started chainsaw carving in early 2006 after taking a class from the George Kenny School of Chainsaw Carving that was a surprise birthday present from my wife. In the gallery section you will find pictures of my work, many of which are now happily residing at various homes in the Northwest. Most of the carving here in Washington is done with Western Red Cedar which is naturally resistant and easy to carve. Cedar is, however, a sensitizer ( meaning it can cause allergic reactions in some people, myself included ) so most of the cedar carvings are made to be kept outside and are finished with a spar urethane for weatherproofing. I have also carved cottonwood, pine, alder, birch, and maple. The links section of this site will point you towards other chainsaw carving information, including George's school. You can email comments to me at woodcarvings@lingel.net .
